In our efforts to get back into hiking and somewhat prepare for Peru we decided to do a nice 7 mile loop today up to Montara Mountain, about an 1800 ft gain. It was a very pleasant hike, and we chose a great day to do it in terms of weather. It was a gentle but steady uphill on the way to the peak, and a delightful downhill all the way back to the car. Kind of a nice alternative to the often up and down rolling hills we typically hike around here. The views could have been killer, and they did start out that way, but fog came rushing in quite quickly and while the cool air was much appreciated it did sort of block any nice views of the coast for the way back. Oh well. Was still a great Sunday.
