Hawaii

Posing with our pilot

It has been TWO years! Eric and I have been married for 2 years. Awesome. This year for our anniversary we planned a very relaxing trip to the island of Kauai. Neither of us had been to Hawaii before, so this was a great little trip to take that would be away from home, but not too far. Plus I am always excited when we get to add a pin to the map that was his anniversary gift from last year!

We took a super early morning flight out of SFO on Saturday to arrive in time for lunch on the island. We figured our room wouldn’t be ready yet anyway so we had time to drive around a bit, eat lunch, and see a waterfall. When we arrived to the Sheraton on the south side of the island we found that our room which had been listed as a garden view actually had a rather nice partial ocean view! Score. We loved that balcony and ended up eating breakfast out there overlooking the beach every morning. Of course the weather was perfect 95% of the time with the occasional 5 minute monsoon.

The goal for this trip was to relax. As you can tell from most of our other trips, we tend to be active and borderline overbooked. Not this time. I was clear that I wanted fruity alcoholic drinks and to lay around and get a tan. Nothing else. Obviously we couldn’t stay entirely inactive for 4 days, but I promise we didn’t go hiking (even though this is totally the best island for that). We did end up taking a helicopter ride over the island, which gave us spectacular views of all the places we could have been hiking, haha. Riding in a helicopter has been a big item on my bucket list for at least 10 years so I’m pumped to be able to scratch that off. Kind of neat that I was able to scratch off the hot air balloon item last anniversary, too.

Anyway, we did a lot of eating and drinking and laying by the water. It was a really great and relaxing trip.
