It has been our tradition to spend Thanksgiving with my family every year. So this year Eric and I flew to Florida to spend a week with my parents. This included visiting Walt Disney World for a few nights, seeing shows and movies, and celebrating the holiday together. We had a blast, and were already tallying up the things we will want to do on our next visit. As much as we love to travel,… (more)
This was our first Halloween in our new house! We put up all the decorations we had from before, which didn’t look like much sadly, and then we went and bought some more. We also carved pumpkins which we did not end up doing last year, so that was fun, too. Annnnd we severely overestimated how many kids might come around the neighborhood, so there’s a boatload of leftover candy. Oh well! It was a… (more)
We had been hiking at Butano State Park once before, but never camped there. Actually, we weren’t planning to camp there this time, either, but it’s a long story. Basically, our original camping plans were down near Big Sur in the area of the forest fire that is still burning from the summer. The park service cancelled our reservation due to that, so we replanned to go 5+ hours north toward Lassen and stay at… (more)
Eric and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary this year!! That’s pretty crazy and hard to believe actually. We had originally discussed flying to Cabo San Lucas or Puerto Vallarta to spend a few days doing nothing at an all-inclusive. But apparently we just aren’t those kinds of people. So instead we flew to Canada to visit the Canadian Rockies in Banff National Park. It was really a delightful trip. I won’t outline it like… (more)
Evey’s parents arrived the day after Eric’s parents left and came to see the new house, new dog, and also go to Lake Tahoe for the first time.
Eric’s parents came to see the new house and visit for several days. We had quite a few fun excursions and got a lot of work done on the house in a short amount of time.
We checked out the Santa Clara County Fair this year. Not very impressive compared to the Middlesex County Fair in EB, but still had the basic requirements.
Eric and I decided to take a super quick 2 night trip to Portland. No particular reason. Mostly because it is pretty close by to us and because we hadn’t been there before. So why not. We got off the plane, rented a car, and drove the Columbia River gorge stopping to look at waterfalls. By the evening we headed into Portland, stopped by Powell’s bookstore, and hit up our first brewery. The next day… (more)
Mom came to visit for the weekend. We went hiking at Castle Rock. It was hot.
For the sixth year in a row here in California we have had a little party with some friends for my birthday and they have made me a Disney themed birthday cake!! I actually ended up having 3 separate birthday celebrations, though, so that was fun. One house party before my actual birthday, dinner out with Eric on my actual birthday, and dinner out with friends later in the week because they couldn’t make the… (more)
Eric and I went to Denver for a few days to visit with his brother Kevin and Kevin’s girlfriend Kim. We had a blast exploring the city of Denver as well as visiting some of the mountains just outside the city. I liked the area a lot more than I expected to, and we had a great time with Kevin and Kim in their new loft.
