Box from Dec. 4

IMG_0776

There was some gap in my box deliveries because of Thanksgiving, just like there will be again due to Christmas and New Years. In the meantime, though, here is the last box I got a couple weeks ago. 2 bunches Nantes Carrots 1 King Richard leek 1lb sweet potatoes 1/2lb yellow onion 1 delicata squash 1 Meyer lemon 3 Gala apples 2 Navel oranges 2 Bosc pears 2 D’Anjou pears This box was clearly heavy… (more)

Haven’t had a box in a few weeks now due to Thanksgiving coming right in the middle. Regardless, I have many pictures to share in this post! 1lb purple fingerling potatoes 3 Bosc pears 3 Cameo apples 1 lemon 1lb satsuma mandarins 1 bunch nantes carrots 1lb leeks 1 bunch spinach I ate the carrots, mandarins, apples, and pears. The spinach I used among salads. The lemon I actually still have, but it will stay… (more)

Boston 2014

Boston is such a beautiful city

We had a chance to go back and stay in Boston for 5 nights and attend my good friends’ wedding! Thanks to Jenn and Dan for getting married in the New England Aquarium so I could use their event as an excuse to come back to Boston. The weather was pretty nice the whole time we were there, and we enjoyed walking and running along the Charles and through the city. I enjoyed Dunks everyday,… (more)

I don’t think I did much exciting with this box, but I still have lots of pictures this time around! 1 Delicata squash 2 King Richard leeks 2 D’Anjou pears 3 Red Bartlett pears 4 Gala apples 1 Hass avocado 1 bunch Nantes carrots 1 bunch broccoli So mostly I ate this box as snacks. The pears, apples, and carrots, anyway. The broccoli was steamed for a side dish one night as usual. I made… (more)

1lb Russian Banana Potato 1 spaghetti squash 1lb red onions 2 Bartlett pears 1 bunch rainbow carrots 2 Gala apples 1 bag black grapes 1 head of lettuce As usual the grapes, apples, pears, and carrots were all eaten raw. I really love that I don’t have to buy those things at the store anymore, honestly. The lettuce went into salads, another item I enjoy not having to pick up at the grocery store. That… (more)

Montara Mountain Hike

Amazing views right from the start

In our efforts to get back into hiking and somewhat prepare for Peru we decided to do a nice 7 mile loop today up to Montara Mountain, about an 1800 ft gain. It was a very pleasant hike, and we chose a great day to do it in terms of weather. It was a gentle but steady uphill on the way to the peak, and a delightful downhill all the way back to the car…. Visiting Jeremy

Jeremy and Alessandra posing

Last weekend Eric and I had the chance to drive down to Pasadena and visit with our good friend Jeremy and his fiancee Alessandra. They’ve lived out here for a ¬†year and this was the first chance we had been able to see them so it was very exciting. I especially enjoyed getting to share so many of our college stories about Jeremy with Alessandra. On our first full day there we took a little… (more)

1lb sweet potato 2 Bartlett pears 1 box kiwiberries 1 bulb fennel 2 Red Bartlett pears 2 Gala apples 1 bunch Lacinato Kale 1 bag black grapes This was a very tasty box. All the fruit went quickly, and the apples arrived just in time for Rosh Hashana. I was able to enjoy them with some local honey from Eric’s coworker and a pomegranate off of my backyard tree (this is also why there is… (more)

Box box box. 1 bunch rainbow carrots 1 pound green beans 2 Bartlett pears 2 Gala apples 2 black plums 1 Hass avocado 1 Keitt mango 1 bag of red grapes Most this box was readily snackable, and I did so. But I have to show you guys… this avocado… it was huge! Huge and delicious. The green beans were the only part of this box that really got cooked or used in a meal…. (more)

Man, I’ve been slacking on these boxes. Here is the last box I received. 1 bunch broccoli 1 bunch celery 1 bag red grapes 1 pound red potatoes 1 cucumber 2 yellow nectarines 2 bartlett pears The (roasted) potatoes and (steamed) broccoli went alongside our usual chicken/fish dinner, but I forgot to take a photo. Everything else was just eaten as you may expect. The end. Since I have so little to share here, maybe… (more)

Disney & Dunks

On top of the train station before park closing

Our anniversary this year sort of seemed to span 2 weekends. I guess that’s what happens when it’s in the middle of the week. In addition to spending last weekend on the coast, we had a nice dinner out to a wonderful Italian restaurant on our actual anniversary and exchanged gifts that night. The third anniversary is leather so we had gotten each other leather gifts. I got Eric a leather and glass case to… (more)

Costanoa

Pigeon Point Lighthouse

We celebrated our third anniversary a bit early this year since the holiday weekend was so early. We had booked 2 nights at a coastal resort called Costanoa, staying in a tent cabin that was a little different than anything else we had done. It had a heated blanket, which was awesome and appreciated. We actually started the weekend with a familiar bike ride to our favorite beach spot, though this was the first time… (more)
