Box from Dec. 5

IMG_4790

So I hadn’t gotten a box in quite a while since I altered my deliveries around Thanksgiving. I got a box on Dec. 5 while Eric was in China and I was puppysitting Buffy so that was fun. Here it is: 1 head of lettuce 1 head of raddichio 1 bunch of spinach 1 bunch of carrots 2 apples 3 kiwis 5 satsuma mandarins About a half pound of purple fingerling potatoes This box was… (more)

We have… 1 bunch of kale 1 leek 1 head of lettuce 2 red potatoes 4 apples 3 pears 4 fuyu persimmons 2 kiwis 1 bunch of radishes No exciting news for the kiwis, apples, pears, or lettuce. I ate them all. They were delicious. The kiwis were especially sweet. The potatoes I roasted for a side dish one night. And honestly? I forgot about the radishes. Sorry, radishes. They went bad hiding in the… (more)

Desolation Wilderness Backpacking

Group shot at break time!

We’ve been talking with Kyle and Krista about going on a backpacking trip for quite some time. Finally we all found a date that worked for us so we planned a little one night overnight trip to Desolation Wilderness. The plan was to do about 6 miles the first day, camp at a lake up there that is known for having good flat areas, and then finish another 7+ or so miles the second day…. (more)

Blake’s California Visit

Boys at the bridge

Our friend Blake came out to visit us in California!! Woohoo!! He has cousins that live very close to us so it was a great opportunity for him to see many of his friends and family all at one. He spent the first part of the week with his cousins and they showed him some local stuff including the usuals of SF. Then we got the weekend and the chance to show him a bit… (more)

Fewer pictures this time, but here we go. 1 bunch beets 2 sugar pie pumpkins 1 bunch carrots 1 bunch kale 1 bulb fennel 3 pears 7 apples As seen in the last photo of the Halloween post, those little sugar pie pumpkins were not eaten, but rather used for decoration. I drew little faces on them, and actually they’re still out there. I like them. Also seen in that post is that all 7… (more)

Halloween 2013

Mickey is ready to greet trick-or-treaters

It’s Halloween time again! If you recall last year’s Halloween¬†¬†we went for a hike, stopped at a pumpkin farm, and then flew kites on the beach. Well it was so much fun we decided to repeat it again this year! This time we got our pumpkins first, then rode our bikes to the beach and flew the kite. The weather this year was drastically different than last year, though. I think it would be fun… (more)

Well as with any truly fresh and organic produce… there were some critters on the lettuce and kale. I realized that after I put them up… (more)

Straight to the box… Head of lettuce Half pound green beans One pound sweet potatoes 3 Seckel pears 2 apples 1 box of kiwiberries 1 bulb of garlic 1 bunch of broccoli So the easy stuff of course were the apples and pears. Delicious snacks. The garlic sort of just got added to the numerous bulbs I already had laying around, though some garlic was used this time around. Now… kiwiberries. Have you heard of… (more)

Russian Ridge

Looks like the ocean over there

This website makes it looks like we haven’t done anything in a month! I guess we haven’t had any big adventures, but we’ve ridden our bikes around and enjoyed our fire pit and been busy on the weekends. Today we went out to Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve for a little 5 mile hike in the hills. Not much to say, though we did see a coyote trot out from the tall grass and cross… (more)

1 bunch green lettuce 1 bunch carrots 1 bag grapes 2 pears 1 box cherry tomatoes 3 bulbs of garlic 1 cantaloupe Again I really don’t have much to share about this box because it was just so wonderfully easy to eat raw! I did enjoy having the carrots back since they haven’t been around in a couple months. They were every bit as delicious as I remember the farm carrots being, and I… (more)

Woo I’m a little behind on this one. The following one actually just came yesterday! So here is the box from August 29: 1 head of lettuce Box of heirloom tomatoes Bunch of beets Box of black mission figs Bag of summer squash Bag of grapes 2 pears This box was so easy that I have nothing to say about it. I roasted my beets and ate them in salads. The lettuce, tomatoes, and some… (more)

Hawaii

Posing with our pilot

It has been TWO years! Eric and I have been married for 2 years. Awesome. This year for our anniversary we planned a very relaxing trip to the island of Kauai. Neither of us had been to Hawaii before, so this was a great little trip to take that would be away from home, but not too far. Plus I am always excited when we get to add a pin to the map that was… (more)
